Rafi Baghdjian is Chief Executive Officer Middle East and North Africa at N2Growth, serving as leader in functional areas including business development, global strategy, cultural transformation and executive coaching.
Rafi is a seasoned executive with 35 years of experience at Shell, covering technical, commercial and leadership aspects of the energy business worldwide during ten assignments in eight locations. From 2012 to 2016, Rafi was the COO of Shell Abu Dhabi, leading Shell´s activities in Abu Dhabi. His responsibilities included the general management of existing investments in oil and gas companies along with the pursuit of new, multi-billion dollar bids in emerging and existing projects. From 2007 to 2012, Rafi was Vice President Technical Services and Business Relations of Qatar Shell, also acting as deputy of the Managing Director and Country President of Qatar Shell during that period. Over those five years, Shell’s investments in Qatar exceeded $21 billion, covering the Pearl Gtl (Gas-to-liquids) project and the Qatargas 4 LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) project. He also oversaw Shell’s activities at the Qatar Shell Research and Technology Centre and all CSR activities for Shell in Qatar.
More broadly, Rafi has expertise in the establishment of joint ventures and the negotiation of multi-billion dollar agreements (Oman LNG 1992-1998 and Venezuela LNG 1999-2003). In all locations (including Japan in 1989-1992), Rafi was known for his customer intimacy and for building business and government relations, interacting at ease with ministers, CEOs, directors and several management levels of organisations. Rafi holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille, France.
