Tim Gately

Tim Gately is a Senior Director with Leadership Development & Assessments for N2Growth. With 25 years of public sector experience, he has a strong track record in senior leadership – including administration, operations, recruiting, and personnel development. Tim most recently served as the Chief of Police for the City of Des Moines, Washington.

His career journey started as a Washington State Patrol Trooper and progressed to command-level roles at the City of Redmond, Washington. He specializes in strategy, culture-building, and organizational transformation as a leadership and organizational consultant. Tim's leadership philosophy revolves around fostering positive environments that enhance communication and drive esteem, a belief he carries into his national instructor and speaker roles.

Tim's leadership has been a driving force behind numerous successful initiatives. His efforts to improve public-private partnerships, foster strong community relationships, and modernize policies and procedures have all yielded tangible results. His data-driven approaches and community-based court models have brought about significant improvements, instilling confidence in his ability to effect positive change.

Dedicated to developing future leaders, Tim holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington, a Master of Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego, and a B.S. in Communications from City University of Seattle. A graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy at Quantico, he holds certificates from the Center for Creative Leadership and the Executive Leadership Institute at Drucker School of Management. He is a certified FIVE LENS Professional.

Tim's dedication extends beyond his professional life. He resides in Seattle with his wife and children and enjoys cheering for the Washington Huskies. He actively volunteers and supports various causes, including youth leadership, Special Olympics, fine arts, and music. This deep connection to his community further underscores his commitment to making a positive impact.
