Michael Steinbach

Michael Steinbach is an Associate at N2Growth in Frankfurt, Germany, where he focuses on business development for executive search. He has over 35 years of experience in senior management roles in the banking and financial service industry, with a particular focus on the payments and transaction banking business.

During this time, he has witnessed the evolution and transformation of the industry from purely paper-based transactions to the electronic and digital payments world we have today. He has been involved in 10 highly transformational national and international mergers & acquisitions across Europe, gaining experience in a variety of dimensions related to financial services-specific matters and tasks, such as business set-up, process harmonization/optimization, IT migrations/transformations, and developing/executing economies of scale and scope. He has also gained experience building teams and a joint corporate identity, developing governance and organizational structures, including audit, compliance, risk, finance, and HR.

Michael believes that, although we live in a highly digitalized and IT-focused world, the difference and the decisive factor in making business successful is still–the people. This realization was one of the reasons he joined N2Growth, focusing on executive search. Over the years, Michael has developed an extensive network related to banks, national banks, regulators, and corporations across Europe, the US, and Southeast Asia. He has also been involved in many national and international committees, such as being a member of the European Payments Council (EPC), which started in 2002 and developed the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) in 2008. He was also a Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank Nederland NV member and acted as Chairman of the International Payments Framework Association (IPFA).
